Yesterday I had a meltdown ... over you.

It was a cross between a panic attack and a pity party...and it wasn’t pretty. 

I put all the training I used in my private practice to help people overcome the pain of Type 2 Diabetes in one place and called it the D2Goal (diabetes 2 goal) Method. 

Working online has come with some challenges.... so much for me to do and to learn (technology is a challenge for me). 

Yesterday... the learning curve overwhelmed me.  I’m learning how to blog...worse how to set up a blog... then twitter...Facebook... everyone telling me how...in different ways. 

 

Yesterday I had enough.  I was frustrated and overwhelmed and I said (loudly), “I need someone to tell me what to do TODAY and when I get that done, what to do next!  I have my life to live and I don’t have time to figure all of this out by myself!”

Paying The Bills & Fixing The Meals

Are you living life on autopilot?  

Is this the life you imagined at 18? When did you last spend time dreaming about the future rather than just paying the bills and fixing the meals?     

A few years ago, my sister and I took a little road trip ...

We set out after dark for a cabin in Oklahoma we were having a good time visiting and laughing and then I became aware that the road changed and became really bumpy.  This got our attention.  I realized I could barely see....the road looked narrow and then I stopped because I couldn’t see the road at all. It looked like the road just stopped.  I had to back up that narrow road in the dark! The next day we went back to look... we almost drove off into a rock quarry!    I looked at the spot we stopped and it literally was the end of that road.   Had we continued we would have ended up in the bottom of a rock quarry....

 That is us.... you and me on autopilot.

IS STRESS CAUSING HIGH BLOOD SUGARS?

The other day I was riding down the road (Bob was driving) and I realized I was feeling tense, a bit on edge like I was in a hurry somewhere and was maybe a bit late.  I WASN’T...and that’s my point.  Studies show...We live life rushed.  Our adrenaline is kicking in during everyday activities... So many times we live life rushed.  We rush to wake up....I’m terrible about this.  I own my own business (which brings its own set of stressors lol) but I jump up intense like I have a boss in my den that is going to reprimand me.  We rush to work...we rush to complete projects...we rush lunch....we rush home.... we rush to cook supper... 

You get my drift.  We rush through life and our bodies are showing the stress.  We even RUSH to the gym!  All the hormones that are RUSHING through our bodies are defeating any effort we are making to achieve ideal weight, lower blood sugars...

SMALL WINS ARE BIG GAME CHANGERS.... Pick one area to work on TODAY.  No matter what get that one thing done.  DO IT AGAIN TOMORROW. 

  • clean your desk off at the end of the day
  •  keep the kitchen clean as you go
  • Go for a 10 minute or even a 5-minute walk                                                               

CHOOSE ONE THING AND DO IT.....no matter what.

 I am a fantastic BAKER.  Kind of weird for a dietitian .... but not really.  I became a dietitian because I had my own food issues and knew if I could learn how to master mine....I could help others win their battles.  Anyway....  When I start eating sweets.... I CRAVE sweets.  I will get up in the night and if they are there....I will eat sweets when my strength is the lowest because I am half...
